Quick Picks – US Open

The US Open is here and the PGA tour has invaded the Hamptons in Long Island NY. (NY represent!) This years field has 156 golfers.

For some reason, people think Tiger Woods has a chance at the second major of the year.  Just like I said when he played at the Masters, Tiger has zero chance of winning.  I hope to see Tiger get another major or 2 before his career is over, but I don’t think Shinnecock’s US Open is where it happens.  Woods was given top 5 odds (14-1) to win in Vegas, which is again playing games with the stupid public bettors.  Those odds are horrible, if Tiger got cut I would not be shocked.  Realistic odds should be at least 50-1.

The US Open has always been known for its really tough greens and crazy rough length.  Last week we saw Dustin Johnson, (US Open favorite at 7-1) go about 20 under.  You will not see crazy low scores like this, but I do like DJ to win this weekend.  Remember that sketchy story last year when DJ supposeldy fell down the stairs right before the Masters?  He was on a tear and looked unstoppable at that time.  I think he’s going to bounce back.  Just don’t piss off your hot wife so she doesn’t throw you down the stairs this year….

The winner will most likely be a few under par for the tourney.  Maybe -5? I duno thats just a guess.  Either way, just as the NBA and NHL playoffs end, its a perfect time for a PGA Major to give us something other then baseball to watch this weekend.

Here are some quick picks so if any of them win, I can say “I Told You!”….

Dustin Johnson 7/1

Tommy Fleetwood – 35/1

Henrik Stenson – 33/1

LongShots

Steve Stricker – 150/1

Charley Hoffman – 100/1

  1. Great call so far on DJ at Shinnicock !!!
You are so right about the Tiger thing too…..missed the cut for crying out loud.
As for a major coming his way, after the way BOTH Augusta and the Players courses and tournament should have been embarrassed the way the Pro’s destroyed their courses…DOUBLE Digit below PAR was ridiculously easy in BOTH tournaments. NOT MAJOR WORTHY.
SHINNICOCK has done it RIGHT and made these guys accountable…..DONT buy the hype…
