It’s a legit question when you think about what the Opening Day lineup for the Yanks looks like. Lets just quickly run through a possible lineup for the Yanks:
1.Who knows if Gardner/Ellsbury can even start on this team anymore but say 1 does
2. Aaron Judge – guy is a man-child already and really hit well in the 2 hole last year
3. Sanchez OR Stanton – Out of these 2 mashers they can play around with who hits where and even Greg Bird as a lefty in between these 3 studs doesn’t sound that crazy just to break up the righty’s.
4. Stanton OR Sanchez
5. Didi – exploded last year and became a serious power hitter for a ShortStop. Besides Seager (LAD) and Correa (HOU), power hitting SS is kind of a dying breed these days. (unless Machado is actually playing everyday short this year?)
6. Greg Bird – Young star, just wait. Lefty stroke looks like David Justice out there
7. Aaron Hicks – Not sure how you don’t start him in the Center everyday but they certainly have a packed outfield
8. Whoever plays – 3rd – now it looks like Brandon Drury after trading for him the other day
9. Whoever plays – 2nd – Ronald Torreys, or eventually (current No.5 rated prospect in baseball) Gleybar Torres.
Obviously they have 2 mystery players batting in the bottom of the lineup right now but the front 4-5 hitters are stackedddd. The Couch King is openly a Yankees fan but I mean, Judge-Stanton-Sanchez-DiDi? Then if Bird gets hot or Hicks keeps hitting like 2017? Wrap that AL East uppp
Sox are ready to nose dive this year I can feel it. Sale is going to keep them in it because he is ridiculous. But that David Price contract is going to kill them. He can’t even make the rotation anymore and your paying him $200Ms? Yanks get beat up all the time but not even the Kevin Brown contract was that bad. Or even A-rod and we had to force him to retire and buy him out ha. Adding JD Martinez is a strong move for the Sox since they needed a middle of the order guy to hit homers and drive in runs. Betts and Benitendi will be on base all season and JD should sit fine batting behind them.
Back to the yanks. So the lineup is stupid good on paper. Although the pitching staff is where most of the question marks(???) lie they actually held their own down the end of the season and post season. Severino Tanaka Sonny Gray CC and Jordan Montgomery looks to be the starting rotation. Pen is stacked. Chapman Chad Green Betances Robertson all ready to go.
The Yankees over/under on wins this year is 94.5 which is about the 3rd or 4th highest number out.
Last year the over was a lock at 82.
Judge, Stanton = jacks
