This past weekend LA was invaded by the NBA and seemingly the entire Hip-Hop community (minus Jay-Z who was busy dropping 100 racks ($91,000) at a club in NYC). The NBA has completely bought into rap and hiphop and the entire weekend felt like a Rolling Loud festival. Not to say the rappers weren’t entertaining its just a very in-your-face hiphop weekend that I’m sure all of the players support. Fergie was probably the only none rapper to perform and she actually stood out following her strange rendition of the National Anthem. As long as you look like that Fergie, I will never complain about how you sound. She looked like a dime in case you missed it.
The pregame introductions were cringeworthy and awful. It felt so forced and awkward that I had to look away at times.
As far as the game goes, the last 2 years the winning team had over 190 points. Which is pretty embarrassing. The scores indicate the level of defense played and past years looked like team dunk contests of who could throw the coolest ally-oops. This year with Lebron and Steph Curry drafting the teams, players seemed to play a little more serious. I have a feeling that Bron is the main reason why at least his team competed harder and actually played defense in the 4th Qtr. Once Bron set the tone of intensity, team Steph, if they weren’t already, got into the game as well.
The under was a lock at 332. Good to knowwww they’d play D this year.
I never watch the Pro Bowl, but there is just something about Lebron catching an ally-oop from Russel Westbrook that makes this game much more tolerable.
Drafting of players by captains Bron & Steph added an interesting aspect to this year’s game and Adam Silver has already mentioned televising it next year. It would be cool to see how that goes and then how it translates to the play on the court.
The ASG had gotten to an all time low, so to be honest, it could only go up and get better from there. So is the game improved? Yes. well so far at least. Is the game still a joke? Also, yes. But thats ok because it’s an All Star game…
